  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

rabbit with absess

Im pretty sure that one of my rabbits has the start of an absess between his toes I noticed that he was holding his foot of the floor and when i felt around his foot I could feel something there. But he will not let me near it. Does anyone know a way that he will let me take a look at it or do you lot think its vet time??

If he's holding his foot off the floor and you can't look at it on your own, it has to be a trip to the vets, so you can hold him while the vet has a look.

they only have to catch a bit of something between their claws and it can cause a problem, you'd be surprisd where they manage to get wounds

Yep vet time defo. I have learnt never to mess around with abscesses. Let us know how he gets on today won't you xxxxx

just to let u know his been to the vets but they have said that they think its just swollen and bruised gave him a couple of injections and to take him back in a week
