A question to people that have long-haired bunnies:

As you know, my new bunny Magic is a fairly long-haired lionhead lop. I want him to get used to being groomed now and am wondering what the best "tools" would be. For my short-haired buns, I use a flea comb, but would this be ok for long hair too? Or is some sort of soft brush better?

Hiya,
I use a small slicker brush and a long toothed comb for grooming my Lionhead crosses. I don't think my buns are as long haired as your little guy, but I find these help extremely well. Groomed regularly your bun should come to enjoy this especially if his fur is knot free! ;)
Always be careful when dealing with any tangles though, as bunnies skin can tear easily. I always hold the fur closest to the body with my fingers to avoid pulling on the skin, and groom out with the comb in my other hand if there are any small knots or tangles. I hope this helps. Happy grooming!
Magic is lovely btw :)

:D hi there

i have a cashmere lop & an angora. i have a variety of brushes that i've built up through trial & error. my fav is a small comb, metal teeth but not as close together as a flea comb.

teddy loves being combed but daisy hates it. she has to be clipped at the vets every 3-4 mnths.

hope it goes well xx

Hi
I have a long haired lionhead. I use a cat flea comb on him daily.
When he was young i used a small brush as i thought it would be nicer for him but he ended up with lots of knots that it missed so definitely use a narrow toothed comb. Good luck!

Hello,

Sorry I didn't realise this topic was here  The combs that I use are on here (I would copy and paste a photo here, if I could work out how to do it  ) http://www.cashmincal.20fr.com/custom.html. I have found that these combs work well in my Cashmere Lops coats.

Thank you for getting it to work! Chris it the comb with the black handle. They are meant for dogs but work lovely with rabbits.

I used to have one of those combs with moving wires. They can rotate as you groom and allow knots to come out very easily. I used it on my dog (spaniel with fluffy ears!).
