Thanks all
Yes, all our pets are shedding undercoats...I worry that's part of what took Pippi away, that she'd succumbed to a bezoar or some such. But I've never seen Fiver lose all this fur before, usually just his saddle area, so this is quite surprising.
Our house in Alaska was always in the 75 F range as we are here...if anything they are in a colder room than before, I know because I have to wear a sweater in the house even with the heat on. I'd think he'd bulk up, not down. :?
Only other thing I can come up with is the daylight. No extreme dark or light anymore...circadian rhythms are off perhaps?
Oddly, while Mimzy is also moulting he is not losing this much fur. Grooming him is a nightmare because he hates it now. But his fur is on him like it's stuck with superglue!
I just hate how you can see how incredibly thin Fiver is now.
He looks terribly malnourished and yet he's eating...not a lot of hay but enough to make decent sized poos with a few tiny ones hither and yon, and I see very few uneaten cecals if at all. I think he's just getting old.
Pardon the mess in this shot, I hadn't cleaned his enclosure yet.
