  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vaccinations.

Probably a really dumb question so please forgive me!

Penelope is due her annual vaccinations in about 8 weeks (i think...) could I get her vaccinated sooner?as in perhaps the next couple of weeks?

Her jabs are going to coinside with the birth of my baby and being on my own with three children under three is going to be really tough so want to sort things out now whilst I have the time!

Plus Ava has sooo many appointments we need to squeeze in before the new year.

Any advice appreciated :D

I THINK it should be OK. I'm basing this on the fact my 2 had the usual combination vac for RVHD1 and Myxomatosis in May and then Filavac (the new one for RVHD2) in July. Filavac covers both strains though so rabbits get double protection for RVHD1 with no known side effects.

I'm not sure about the myxomatosis part being given early but am sure it's better to give early rather than later. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can confirm, or check with your vets.xx

Yes absolutely definitely you can :D

You can even get them done every six months so no problem with a few weeks early
