Hi all sorry not been on in a while but just thought I would update you on gizmo are gummy bunny who has had his fair share of bad luck
After his major surgery back in April to remove an abscess the vet met complications which meant she couldn't remove it all so instead created a small drainage hole and resectioned his ear canal ... Meaning he was in antibiotics for life and needed us to clean the drainage hole for him daily . Which I am happy to say he is really good for and almost seems to appreciate it.
Since the surgery his bunny wife has rejected him so we kept him indoors until the new summerhouse with double glazing and French doors was built.... However gizmo isn't keen on moving out ..... On top of this gizmo had another abscess on the base of the other ear which at the time of his surgery wasn't very big so they said antibiotics should keep it at bay, however it has grown a bit but is draining into his ear slowly , which in turn is making him fairly deaf . He can hear loud noises but the vet thinks that's more through vibrations than actual sound ,,,,,,. He had a check up today and the vet feels another big op would be too much for gizmo at the moment and he may not be so lucky the second time , so after a weight a health check she said he is very healthy and perky so she is happy to leave it and basically keep an eye on him. He has metacam for pain if he needs it (some days it bothers him but not often) and he is on antibiotics for life. She said should he go down hill or the abscess grew to the point it popped or he was needing pain meds all the time , then she would operate as a last ditched attempt to save him...... So basically watch and let him enjoy life .... He is a happy bunny and soooooo loving I just find it really hard and upsetting that a bunny so brave and one who has been through so much still has to battle ..... Please send vibes for my very special boy. He doesn't deserve any of this .
