  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Gizmo bum (rump )and tail still got wee on it,

ANNASBUNNIES

I took him to the vets today his underneath is clean and dry but still by his bum (rump) and tail is still covered with wee. The vets is not sure why but has told me to give him a bath and keep an eye on him. I go away Friday for a long weekend so my friend is going to check him while I am away. If he hasn't improved he will have to a X-ray to check his bladder and anything else. Has anyone got any ideas of what could be wrong?

Did the Vet shave off the soiled fur and give you any advice re prevention of Flystrike ?

Did the Vet test a urine sample, examine his abdomen/bladder and check his spine/hips ?

He was shaved about 2 weeks ago and a bath at the vets

she hasnt done a urine sample yet, she has felt his abdomen and bladder, spine and hips.

He does sit up in the litter tray with his front paws on the edge. But this is something he has always done.

He is eating and drinking normally, and isnt acting out of character.
