  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi Guys
Well its been a while and Ill post some stuff about my buns as I know a lot of you used to follow our diary Not Just a Rabbit...

Jack my nearly 10 year old boy always seems to have cystitis and again hes on meds, he eats special cranberry sticks from vets and has had x-rays/wee samples etc and flushes in past but nothing really shows up so now they just give him the meds for a month and hope for the best. His bladder always feels a tender they say and he squeeks (usually he doesnt when hes okay if that makes sense)
The meds do seem to help and the peeing stops, he urinates all over the floor right in front of us so I know he needs to go to vets.
Just wondering if anyone else had a bun with similar problems??

Also does anyone have a rabbit with hayfever as I think Coco may have hayfever her snot is very stringy, shes fine in every other way but some days she sneezes like mad and others shes fine. Vets cant find any problems with her.

I don't have any experience with either but I hope they both feel better soon. Sending lots of vibes for Jack and Coco xx

Is her snot clear or white? Does the vet not suspect an infection?

Rabbits can get Hay Fever but its extreamly rare and a respitory infection is more likely. We used piriton for my respitory bunny and it did help, but as he did also suffer from infections this was not the only treatment we used.
