Seperate bedroom to toilet... how????

moi

Mama Doe
I have a litter tray in the buns bedroom part of the hutch as thats where they pee and poop, but if I put bedding anywhere else they use that as litter too x

Presumably the link bedding to going to the toilet. I only put hay in litter trays otherwise they go to the toilet wherever hay is lol

I find anything soft they pee on.. Ive had vet bed, matts, and carpet and they pee on them allx

I don't know the size of your accommodation but in my experience, if their space is relatively small, they'll toilet all over it. If it's bigger, they'll pick specific areas as toilet sites and other spaces as somewhere to lounge around. For example, my trio have 4 trays in their shed but never pee in one of them. It's become a sleeping area, even though it's lined with megazorb and hay, exactly the same as the others.

Sorry this is a question not an answer. Do buns actually need bedding material to sleep on? My house bun has a free-choice of what surface to lay on, has quite a few options and normally picks lino. Outdoor buns in winter need stuff to keep them warm - but otherwise?
