  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny Poop!

I've had some issues with my bunnies lately in regards to leaving excessive cecotropes for a number of weeks - Since they've been bonded and i've introduced more forage and grass the problem seems to have resolved itself quite well - other than the odd 2 or so daily (much better than what it was).

So atm my buns get unlimited hay, daily access to fresh grass (in their hours free range), 4 tablespoons of pellets between them once a day and a small bowl of forage/herbs/greens at night before bed.. But for some reason their regular, every day poo's are lacking.

Blossom's are still big and golden and they crumble into tiny pieces of hay like normal, but they're quite moist.. Not sure if that's normal?

Leo's are darker than usual and when you try and crumble them, they're moist and almost squishy and don't crumble as easily..

Is there anything in their diet that i'm doing wrong or I should decrease etc?

Their nightly bowl of forage usually consists of dandelion leaves, hawthorn, bramble and sometimes the odd herbs/spring greens.. And whatever other forage I can get hold of.

If he's eating a lot of grass or greens that would explain it and wouldn't be something to worry about. Do you see him eating lots of hay?
