Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fur loss! worried!

Ever since Smokey was shaved for her spay, I think she has been pulling out the fur around it.
She has just been away for a week to be bonded, which went amazingly, and they have both come home today, and have settled in as if they have always lived together.
I am hoping that this may stop her pulling out her fur if that is what is the cause of her missing fur, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with a Similar thing?

I really don't know but wanted to bump this up so someone who has experienced might see it. How long ago was the spay? Is she totally healed?

Thanks

I really don't know but wanted to bump this up so someone who has experienced might see it. How long ago was the spay? Is she totally healed?

It's been about 3 weeks now, her wound is fully healed, and she has fix where some of her fur is growing back, but I noticed that she has been grooming very vigorously, so may be ripping it out that way. Hopefully she will cool down with the grooming as I thought little robin (her new husbun) was going to be toppled over! I'm hoping she has just been a little stressed with the car journies, and now that she dosent have to go on anymore for a while (hopefully) it will stop!

Thanks for the bump!

It could just have been down to the irritation from the op wound? As skin heals it can be itchy same as for us and that coupled with stress maybe made her carry on pulling? Main thing is she is healed and it seems to be growing back, just keep an eye on it :thumb:
