Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

so charlie had a urine sample done and all was fine if not a bit dilute. had bloods months back and all was fine. he has been dry for about 1-2 weeks and now the last few days its been like this.

the vet suggested another set of bloods which im happy to do. they want him in fir a few hrs to do it using a special cream that makes it less painful on the needle area.

BUT im scared he will really stress out! i know its silly but if his bloods are fine surely their isnt much more to look for? last time they said his bladder felt healthy-not swollen or sludgy- what could it be? i want to be somewhat prepared for whats going to happen next?

vet booked for 3

getting bloods done today- anyone had similar probs?? i have reintroduced pellets 2 days ago but i only give him 5 so surely thats not it. arghhhh

You could ask if you could pick up the cream and apply it ahead of time so he didn't have to be there so long :)

It could be a problem with function eg nerves/muscles rather than something like an infection. I imagine they want to make sure they are completely ruling out the later.

Btw, love the feet!

yes he has very fluffy feet ! LOL he tries to put them together so i cant check his 'bits'

Doughnut is on propalin which works on the muscles in the uretha, so not sure if that would help your little one. She's been wet for ages as she's been unwell but the propalin is helping. You need to find the cause first though. Is your vet a specialist?

Hers is because she's been so unwell her muscles are now lapse and this helps strengthen them.

well i did have a specialist vet but she is leaving-possibly left already and they didnt let me pay direct with my petplan unless its over 500 which i cant do atm. so im at a local one which i dont think is a specialist unfortunately. its just hard to get too far as i dont drive. they arent affraid of asking a specialist for help though. so if the bloods come back negaive agian i might ask if they can ring one

I would but in the meantime stay off the SS and slowly introduce the vetcare urinary tract pellets to see if it makes a difference.

Let me know how you get on. I'm always putting bits of newspaper on the floor as she loves to lie on these and I can then see if she is wet!

just back- he had the most thorough but check ive ever seen !!!! so undignified poor fella... but he was quite matted due to the dampness so has had a trim and they took bloods so now a waiting game i guess.

bloods back

the vet called and charlie is anaemic and calcium is high- the vet is goignt to talk to the bunny lady on mon for next course of action- any ideas im scared for him:cry:

What EXACTLY is his diet?

Calcium could be poor working kidneys or high calcium diet. You'll likely be asked all of this.

Anaemia im not too sure about, not heard of that one.

he has been on a hay only diet for awhile as i was worried that his tummy wasnt taking fresh food and was causing his problems however clearly his problems have not stopped. one thing i have noticed is that since starting the ss pellets again his wet bum started up again so am cutting them out to see if thats the problem.

his origonal issue had been a wet bum and leaking urine. the anaemia thing was a complete suprise!

I would be thinking maybe liver or kidney function issues. Does he drink a lot?

I'm sure your vet will discuss everything with you and the where to go from here. His diet sounds good providing that he is keeping weight on.

Fingers crossed that everything goes ok. x

thanks everyone! :) i appreciate the vibes.

yes he does drink alot although has been tricky to tell due to it being so hot. he hasnt lost weight which is good though. my vet will be ringing anytinme between now and 4pm
