  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Charlie's spay tmrw/behaviour change.

Wise Old Thumper
Over the past week or so she's become rather hormonal, vet check came up clear so nothing untoward on the outside. Worried there may be internal damage from being carried by a dog, I don't know if she kicked out or anything.. :(

She's timid still, but braver. Spaying may set that back but she's a different rabbit.. One day I was cleaning her out and she was eating next to me, the next she was tipping her litter trays over, chewing everything in sight. It has been pretty much consistent behaviour. She was at the vets on Friday, her front teeth are fine but she'll have a proper check during her spay. Her bits are clean and everything. Vaccinated 4 weeks ago. Her diet is the same, pinch of pellets and loads of hay, which she is still eating well. She just seems really frustrated :(

The vet spent a good 10 minutes with her, checking her all over twice but can't see anything untoward on the outside. I'm just hoping it isn't anything nasty inside that's made her like this :( unless it's just those mean hormones.

Best of Luck with Charlies spay tomorrow Aly! I hope all goes smoothly and that her behaviour is just down to her raging hormones
