Whisper is a chinchilla doe with half her ear missing. It was probably chewed off by her mother when she was a baby.
Whisper was about three years old when she came to Hopper Haven in September 2006. She had previously been re-homed by the RSPCA after being taken in by them in a cruelty case.
Sadly they allowed her and her sister to go to an unsuitable home where they were kept in separate tiny hutches. When they arrived here they were in a pitiable state. Being confined in a tiny hutch resulted in severe loss of mobility and Whisper was barely able to hop and was covered in mites. Her sister was even worse with a terrible, long standing eye infection. It was shocking to learn that an animal welfare organisation could have sent animals that had already been abused out to a new home with such a lack of care. .
Sadly HH lost Whisper's sister during an operation to remove her eye. Had that been done when the RSPCA first had her she could have had a long life, like Whisper has had with HH.
Whisper has dental problems that cause digestive upset too. We know she needs a dental when her poop goes squidgy.
She is a quiet and shy little girl who lives in one of the sheds with Pan.
She luckily has a sponsor who kindly contributes to her care.
