  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

benji and medication

scarlett

Alpha Buck
I had to take benji to emergency vets again this morning cos he wouldn't eat anything i offered to him. He was only there 3 weeks ago for same reason. Anyway he had some metacam and zantac and metaclop and when we got home he went in the garden( his choice) and then went in the shed and ate hay, parsley and coriander and later all his pellets! He has since been completely back to normal, should i give him more zantac or leave him if he's eating normally? I think he's moulting at the moment , vet said he couldn't see anything wrong with his teeth but couldn't see right at the back of his mouth which is what all the vets usually say.

Has he passed normal feces today ? Monitoring what comes out is just as important as noting what he is eating

Personally I would give the treatment prescribed by the Vet.

He has done normal poops and wees all day and vet said he had good gut sounds this morning, he gets stressed when i give meds so was thinking didn't want to upset him when he is doing so well:roll: Don't know what to do for the best.
