Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Front Leg Paralysis

Linuxete

Warren Scout
My rabbit Lucy (almost 4 years old) had a paralysed front leg today. She was cleaning her fur, when I noticed that her front leg was stiff and attached to her chest, she couldn't move it. I took her out of her cage ant her front leg regained its functionality. Right now her leg seems to be fine. At the time of her leg paralysis she seemed like she wanted to scratch her ear, but couldn't reach it. Her back legs seems to be normal. I thought it could be EC, but I'm not really sure because her leg is back to normal again. I live in Lithuania so no treatment for this disease is available here. I also thought about middle/inner ear infection, but I can't see any discharge from her ears. She had something like that about 4 or 5 months ago. That time she was cleaning her fur too. Same front leg went stiff and she couldn't move it, but shortly she regained its funcionality and was fine until today. Any ideas? Maybe someone had same problems?

Thanks in advance.
