Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Took the girls for their VHD (worming Q's)

I took P&D for their VHD this morning and I was really pleased with our new vets :thumb: They adored the girls and were all coo'ing over them :D Both had their annivac VHD and a health check and all is well :)

We took out the package that they offer which is £60 per year for each bun (would have been £80 per year but we got £20 off as they are insured!) and covers 2x myxo jabs, 1x VHD jab, 2 health checks and also panacur worming paste. She gave me the worming paste and told me to worm them for 9 days each twice a year? Is this effective?

Im so glad that they are finally both completly vacc'd and spayed! Phew! :)

Daisy was a little sweetie on the table, I got her out the carrier and put her on the table and she put her front paws straight up onto me and burried her head in my coat :love:

What a lovely affectionate bunny!

That's great that you've found such a good and cost effective vet.

My vet is not in favour of routine Panacur-ing when there are no symptoms present, because of the possibility of side effects, but this still seems to be a minority opinion. Another post on here (from Sky-O, I think) said that short courses of Panacur for EC prevention were based on the evidence of only one very small study, of less than ten rabbits.

Do you know which VHD jab it was exactly? Was it Cylap? Cylap can make them quite poorly so keep a close eye on them over the next few days if it was. Lapinject is far better and, as far as I know, Anivac has no side affects at all.

Wel done for having them jabbed anyway - definitely the right thing to do! :thumb:

It was anivac :) my old vets were funny about me not wanting the cylap so we found a new vets :thumb:

Thanks for the links will have a read :)

Phew!

Re wormer, I have wormed Pickles preventativly a couple of times because he's had worms twice in the past, and I don't want to go through that again! I've stopped now though as I had the aviary and the big run returfed, and as that's the only grass he has access too I didn't think he'd be able to get them again. I think if your buns graze where wild rabbits have been it's best to worm them though.
