  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Any thoughts on Dilberts bald nose please

Dilbert had a line on his nose for a while and we assumed it was the way his fur was sat now today he has a bald patch.

He lives with another bun but Rubens very rarely grooms him so i doubt it's over grooming, he lives in a cage at the moment and occasionally chews at the bars. Any ideas greatfully received!

I suspect he rubs the fur off as he chews the bars, his nose probably goes in between two bars and the chewing action causes friction between a bar and his nose ??

That was my first thought but didn;t want to say incase it sounded stupid

I also had a cat who had ring worm in a similar spot but not sure how that would affect bunnies

I was discussing it on the RU facebook thing whilst RU was down and someone said their chipmunk had a similar thing so it sounds plausible. Wish he'd stop it as i'm worried about him damaging his teeth, he has plenty toys, hay etc so not sure what to do :?

Thank you x
