Wild Rabbit advice needed

Mama Doe
Hi,

I work out in the country and the sire I work at has a lot of wild rabbits.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a rabbit through my office window that had some wrong with his/her eyes. Due to the distance I could not be sure what but they were definately swelled and red.

I knew I would not be able to catch it and assumed that nature would take its course.

I have just seen what I think is the same rabbit. Both eyes are defiantely a problem but the rabbit is eating and running around the grass like a healthy rabbit.

I went ouside and got a little closer before it ran for its burrow and saw that one eye is not open and very swelled.

I really do not know what to do.

Do I leave it?
Do I try and catch it?

Help / advice please!

That sounds like myxi.

And what you should do is up for question. If it was me I would be tempted to take it to a vet to be PTS, although some rabbits do recover (specific colonies of rabbits seem to recover and they recover if being fed on mum's milk if mum has also recovered) and if you do try and take it anywhere, be aware that you are going to need to take strict precautions to protect your bunnies from anything like fleas from that rabbit.

That was my first reaction when I saw him/her a few weeks ago.

If it is myxi then it is certainly doing well on its own. I do not want to put my furries at risk and I guess that has to be my main priority.

I also do not want to take it to a vet if the option will be PTS. I would prefer it do what is natuaral as it seems happy and is eating well.

It seems quite young, teenager I think.

Thanks
