Putting cranberry/herbal tea in water?

Guy

Hi all

I've just read in another thread that you can put pure apple juice, cranberry etc along with types of herbal tea in a bunnies water to help them take in more?(I think, memory like a sieve!)

Mine take in enough water as far as I'm aware, but was wondering if I could do this as a one off treat for my buns? Is it not too rich for their tums?

Yup, that was probably me that said that. I woudl suggest using Infusions as opposed to Herbal teas because some herbal teas include 'funny' things. With infusions you know exactly what it is. As long as its rabbit safe then its fine.

It can be helpful to 'experiment' with them to find what your buny likes so that if you really need it, then you know what to try.

For the juices it is better to have it freshly squeezed, but if that's not possible then minimal amounts is important because of the sugar in it.

Just remember to also provide plain water too.

Funnily enough I was wondering about whether to do something like this for Starbuck tonight, to tempt him to drink a little more?

I have a bunny with a sludgy bladder and gave him a bowl of watered down cranberry in addition to his water bowl to see if he would drink more of it but he didn't seem to like it at all unfortunately.

Not to say all buns are like that, just my experience.
