  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Question about bunnys nose

ls1boost

New Kit
hello everyone I am not really a forum kind of person but I ran across this site and figured i would see if someone could help. I got this little dwarf bunny about 6-8months ago and seems all healthy and all eats like a pig and plays pretty hard. well anyway about 2 weeks ago i noticed his nose appeared as if he had a cold kind of crusty around the nostrils and since has gotten crusty all around the nose and looks really dry not sure what is causing it and the rest of his body and fur is in nice shape. I attached a couple pics not the best but hopefully someone can give me some idea of what to do.

thanks.

Your Rabbit needs to be examined by a Vet ASAP
Please make an appointment for him today

The problem might be an Upper Respiratory Tract Problem, which if left untreated can move down onto the lungs causing pneumonia

There are also other possibilities, but only an examination by a Vet will tell you what is wrong and what treatment is needed.
