Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
Hello everybody!

I have some concerns and was wondering if anyone can help!

My 2 year old dwarf lop was housed in a permenant hutch with large run and I recently moved her into a single hutch for the winter (and get her out for exercise daily). This was about 2 weeks ago and today she has been off her food and greens and just sits in a corner-not like her at all. :(

About 3 weeks ago her hair started to fall out, but maybe ready for winter?

Would moving her be the cause of these changes? or does it sound more serious? I'm likely to be taking her to the vet tomorrow but just wanted to put my mind a rest now.

Thanks in advance...oh and I have put her back where she was tonight.

How long is it since she ate or drank?
she needs to see a vet tonight if she is hunched up, do you mean she is moulting? she could have a blockage from the loose fur.

If it were me id ring the vets this very minute. x

No she doesnt appear to be in pain at all, just sitting/laying and not very active which is not like her. She ate a small amount of lettuce and hay thismorning but her pellets are still in her bowl.

I agree that you should ring a vet right away. If she is hunched up she is probably in pain and as grace65 says, it could be a blockage

Bunnies hide pain very well until its too late, its very important a buns guts keep moving if she isnt eating or pooing you really do need to ring a vet this evening. x

If your rabbit is sitting hunched up in the corner of the hutch they urgently need to be checked out by a vet.

How big is the hutch that your bunny is now in.
