Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

skin question

hi,
a week last wednesday I took my girl to the vets and a flea jumped off her. The vet put some spot on on her neck and gave us some to do at home for our other bunny. They aren't yet bonded but live on separate floors of a double hutch, so better to be safe than sorry. We watched the vet do my girl and then we did my boy bunny at home. But I think some of it went on the fur rather than the skin. I've noticed the past couple of days he has flakey white bits in his fur. So I've had a good look in that area at the skin and its all normal, no soreness or redness and he's not been scratching more. But there was.still some of this white flakey stuff in his fur, only in this area. I've managed to get some out to look at and compared it to pics of mites on the web but it doesn't look the same.

Is it possible that some of the advantage that was on the fur has dried to leave this white flakey stuff?

Like I said previous, he's been acting the same as usual. Forgot to add that he has been moulting for awhile now.

Thanks
