Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

White lump on bottom of Smudge??

Hey everyone, i think im over reacting but i need advice/ reassurance...... doing bum check on Smudge today and saw a white lump (it resembles a white head spot!) on his bottom i guess it is where is penis is tucked in????
I tried to look at it properly but it was pretty difficult i had to turn him on his back and i hate, hate, hate doing that as i have read it is very distressing for them.......

He is eating, pooping, peeing (everywhere!) he has been running about and grooming himself, all in all seems like he is ok; but just wondered what it might be! It is only one on there and has not gotten bigger over the last 5 hours.

What do people think?

Possibilities are a spot, blocked hair follicle/ingrown hair, pasturella abcess or treponema cuniculi (rabbit syphilis)... etc.

I would pop bunny to your vet for a proper diagnosis. Hopefully it is something very minor like a simple spot.

My male had this at the base of his penis - turned out to be an ingrown hair that the vet removed using a magnifier.

i just thought i would update, i forgot too.... might be useful for some people who find a spot on rabbits bottom; vet said it is common esp in bucks best best just to leave it be :)

:?

I would advise that any other member who finds anything at all unusual on their rabbit have it checked out by a vet and not just assume it is normal at all.

Nala (female) has a couple of white spots on her lady bits too.. she's always had them and they have never been a problem. If they changed or multiplied id get them checked though
