  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

haven't seen any 'special poops

JLG

As a perpetual worrier, I am wondering how concerned I should be that I am fairly certain I have never seen any of my 2 buns' caecotrophs (sp?). I've had them since the end of May and they are cleaned out every day. Is it a good thing that I haven't seen any? :)
Having said that, I'm not sure what I should be looking for anyway.
thanks

I've only ever seen one of Biscuit's in 4 months JLG. In theory, you shouldn't ever see them as they take them direct, and tend not to go back for them if they are in the litter tray / toilet area :)

Stop worrying!! :D

Absolutely! :thumb:

If you see caecotrophs discarded or caked onto bunny's backside then this is a sign that something is wrong either dietary or health wise.

thanks very much peeps :D
thats what I was thinking but as my main occupation is worrying about one or other pets (or worrying that i don't think I have anything to worry about) I just wanted to check with someone who knows.
It would seem that everything is functioning normally - oh dear, have I just jinxed them??????
