hi, ive a lovely large lop bunny, about 2 yrs old. On saturday i noticed she was limping and favouring her front paw. Took her to the vets and they gave her a general an and found an abscess, they drained it and she is now on antibiotic injections daily. Our bun is not insured, Im on maternity leave and we have three kids, money is a constant issue. So far Ive paid nearly £200 for her treatment. I spoke to the head vet yesterday and he said the infection was so bad we could be looking at weeks and weeks of anti biotics which may not work, the only option after that is amputation. I take good care of all my pets and am particularly fond of my big bunny but I also have mouths to feed and mortgages to pay. I dont know how to handle this in the right way, hubby and I thought of suggesting that we give her a couple of weeks of daily anti biotics and then get the vet to re asses her, if she is still in pain and infected then we may have to call it a day, there is no way we could afford to amputate the leg and tbh the amount of stress and pain she would go through, in my eyes, is not worth it. i know some people put their pets above everything else, I cant and wont but I also want to do the best for her. any ideas folks?
