  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can anyone give me any info about treatment/ outcome for this plz ? I have a rabbit who has laboured breathing , he has had xrays and is on baytril and a duretic i think ?

I think they are treating for infection first jane and asked me to update them on how he was doing . I thought he was doing well when he came home because he is eating well they said he only ate bannana when he was kept in the vets for a few days but his breathing has not improved all that well . I dont know what to do for the best he doesn't like being caged he likes to be out but if i let him out he runs around so much his breathing gets worse . I think that might be why they said we might need to judge his quality of life , i wouldn't like to see him like this long term its not fair to keep him inside caged up when he is normaly outside in his run all day :(

Did the Vet mention anything about the possibility of it being cardiac related?

Did the heart look to be a normal size on the Xray ?

What breed is he ?

He is a X breed lop REW aged about 5 or 6 . I have made an appointment to see the vet on sat Jane i think i need to ask some questions about the xrays , his heart was not mentioned just that he had fluid in his lungs
