View Full Version : The Mixed Breed Rescue Rabbit

Jack's-Jane

Is a fantastic 'breed'. They all have a wonderful individual character and the 'breed' comes in every colour imaginable :)

Some are happy to 'sit' for their adoring audience-ie their hoomins within their home environment

Some are hyperactive and will free range 'show jump' to entertain themselves. Hoomins are welcome to watch if they so wish :)

The Mixed Breed Rescue Rabbit is most certainly a 'breed' to aspire to

:D

Just put a screen up round the light..play some soft music and hey presto..
works for lots of people..
or just let your neighbour look after your rabbits for a couple of days cos they are guaranteed to let the only un neutered buns you have, get together without your permission!

i know there are lots of 'breeds' of rabbits but its thro meeting eric that i've found out about the various shapes and sizes - before that it was lop eared or uppy eared. i didn't know what he was when he came to me - apart from a tiny rabbit that seemed sad and needed someone to love him.

from what i've found out, he's a netherland dwarf. maybe 'pure', maybe not. he has a squished little face - and the wonky teeth that go with it but y'know what? i couldn't give a :p 'what' he is. he is eric. simple as that:love:

he's is registered at the vets as 'small, black otter, probably nethie'.

now i am off to view some rabbits. no idea for sure what breeds they are, just foster buns looking for a husbun:)

All breeds and mixes of breeds are beautiful. I have yet to see an "ugly" bun. If there is some magical difference between purebred and a mix, someone has yet to tell these rabbits! They binky like psychos regardless.

Totally agree Jane, i think most of mine are 'cross' breeds and are all lovely
My mum has a pure bred silver fox called Phoebe (she came with one of those bling rings on too, but we felt it was chavvy so had it removed  ) and she is the biggest moo head ever, hates being touched and God forbid if you try and pick her up

My baby is x-agouti ans shes great in fact no matter what animal cross or not they are all gorgeous all do the same thing only in their own way. Tell me your pure bred doesnt poop eat and sleep? chew chew and bite occassionally.
I hate it when people say my dogs just a mongrel that term went out way back its offensive and nasty!
Why cross? My bunny aint cross its just the way she looks sometimes can we have anicer term?
any suggestions...

I've seen an ugly bun.....it was a neddie that sort of looked like a staffie and suffering from the inverse of lollypop head....unfortunately he was in for bonding so we had to be very polite.

I don't think any of mine are pure breeds. Rosie came from a breeder (surplus stock about to be dumped on the common) but she's obviously got some dutch in her somewhere which makes her extra cute.

woozle...my furry termite...a bridge bun
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/WoozleStanding.jpg

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/Woozle12.jpg

he was well endowed with his plums..and his ears..but his ears got to stay where they were:lol:

another bridge bun.....
bandit my darling little clown..uppy eared rather a large smattering of liohead mane..black n white little sweetheart from southampton rescue.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/bunny%20rabbits/banditeating.jpg

another bridge bun..darling litte casper..the dumped mutilated lip bunny who had a short time with us but it was such a wonderful time but sad knowing any day was to be his last.

he was as weeny as a mini lop or even large older style nethie....his ears were too long tho....he had a bit of a kisscurl in between his ears...and his cheeks were short fuzzy chops.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/flymobile102.jpg

And my longest surviving buny yet and the oldest bunny ive ever had..but odnt tell her that she will be deeply offended!
my sweetie pie Bif...the rescue said she was a lionhead lop cross...i dont care cos her ears are clever..they can lop...they do helicopter style and when realy scared or over excited..stand upright like a proper bunny....shes a clever girl.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/bunny/bifidins.jpg

when bonding with bertie the rew puffalump:lol:
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/bunny/bertienbifgarden.jpg

her piccy on the rescue website which made me fall in love with her..such sad eyes
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/misstfied/bunny/WIMG_4176_Leoni.jpg

i have yet to get a piccy of merlin..hes stopped moulting now so doesnt look a dishevelled mess anymore. when i get a piccy i will add it..but hes black with uppy ears...now hes also developed..huge fluffy mutton chops and a bit of a mullet going on not as much as bandit had..but enough. and hes got fur back where the reactiont to the cylap jab ran its course once hed got here.

hes about bifs size but when vicky and chris did thebunrun to me..he was soooo much fluffier and he seemed huge!
chris n vicky...hes half his size now i swear..the fur weve had come off of him bless him:lol:

bertie i have to say is my big rew puffalump and indeed a french lop.BUT he thinks hes a nethie...does that count?
