  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit with wounds

Young Bun
I have to say that it's not about my rabbits.
She said that her bunny had his/her skin irritated under the chin. She whent to make some test to see if it has pest and the vet said that he/she has an infection. He gave her a cream to put on the bunny for 2 weeks. It got worst. She said that the wound on his neck, under the chin it got bigger and it's wet and has wound on her/his legs too and seems that it's suffering. The bunny eats, but he can't swallow very well. She said that it's like that since 6 weeks ago. She went to different vets and she said that the bunny got shots with vitamins, antibiotics and was desinfested too and it's still the same. What could it be? It sound simmilar to Staphylococcus. Could it be?

Actually, it sounds very much like he has severe dental issues and I would urge her to find another vet asap before any further damage is done. The wet chin is more likely to be due to excess saliva i.e drooling because the buns mouth is irritated. :(

Thanks for your answer, but she didn't answer anymore. Maybe she doesn't need any help anymore. I hope the bunny it's ok.
