Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Mucus in poo.

Young Bun
Hi,

I've just noticed my bun has passed some poo with a jelly like mucus around them!! I've never noticed this before, she is fine in every other way still eating fine etc. What could this be?

I would ring the vet and ask to be on the safe side, is it colored or just white ? is the poo soft or normal but wrapped with mucus ?

it's kinda a funny colour not clear but not quite coloured if you get my drift, the poo is normal in size and shape. Not sure which of the two buns did the poo. I just noticed it in their run, both buns are fine and running about have been all day.

I'm gonna phone my vet and ask for some advice.

Karen

The guts can produce mucous when inflammed....it is not something you ideally see in rabbit droppings...but it may not be any cause for concern just yet if it is a one-off....but I would certainly watch your bunny's intake of food and output of faeces carefully over the next few days.
