  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

What to do first - rebond/vacc's

I'll try to keep my story short!

My 2 rabbits had to be separated as they are boy and girl, they are both now neutered, him about 6 weeks ago and her 2+ weeks ago. We are keen to get them back together but also they haven't had their vacc's yet. If I rebond say next weekend (if you don't think thats too soon?) would I need to leave it a bit before I do the vacc's, if so I assume I should vacc's first so how long should I then wait before rebonding and how soon in relation to her spay would be best to vaccs?

Obviously want to keep stress levels as low as poss (for me as well as them!) They were both Panacured before her neuter.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

You'll need to wait another month or so to rebond them as the doe was only done about 2 weeks ago. It takes about 6 weeks for their hormones to settle. The rebond will go much more smoothly with 2 calm, hormone free buns.

It depends on the timing of your vaccs, when are they due? If not for a while I'd rebond them first and then take them both to be vacc at the same time. Bonded buns cope better with stress i.e. vet's visits than lone buns (generally).

Can we have pics please? Just FYI there's a forum rule that all posters must post bunny pics. Ok, just teasing but pics please, ;)
