  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Shivering/ shaking

HS

Wise Old Thumper
Squidgy was fine at 6am this morning - he had his breakfast, no problems and behaving as normal. I've just been to see him and he was not acting in his normal manner and looks a little strange. Nothing that anyone who doesn't know him would notice though.
I noticed he was shivering/ shaking his whole body for a few seconds at a time. He lives inside, so shouldn't be cold but I've popped a snugglesafe down for him and also syringed some cooled boiled water into him in case he's got himself a little dehydrated.
Any ideas as to what it could be?

Hmm, usually another indication of pain :? Has he got a bit of gas do you think? Usually Fliss goes like this when she has tummy problems :?
Big vibes to him

Thanks Jay.
I think he may have a little wind. I've massaged his tummy as well, and will just monitor him throughout the day. He's not hiding away and still wants fuss, he's just not quite right.

Well, he's back to normal now. Did give me a bit of a scare though, as he's never exhibited those symptoms before. I'll be monitoring him very carefully. He is at least 7 years old now though, so I guess we should expect little idiosyncracies.

he didnt eat anything he shouldnt have did he and his body was having a reaction to it? Dandilion had a funny turn like that and i took her to the vets and he said she could have nibbled a bit of paint or wallpaper etc which could have piosionered her slightly:(- i watched her and like yours everything went back to normal after an afternoon of the fear:? x
