My rabbit Ralph nips a bit....???

When i hold Ralph sometimes he gives off a small nip, what does it mean???? Is it a sign from him to me that he wants/needs something????
 
It could be for attention or food, or that he wants to be left alone if accompanied with a stroppey bunny!
