Hutch Advice - Please Help Desperate Now!

I have been looking for a while now and still cant seem to find anywhere that makes true single storey 5x2x2 hutches. I've found plenty that are 5ft long but not quite deep or high enough. The best one so far I seem to have found is lavender lodge from pets at home - £99 is this reasonable?

I cant take my bunny a little rescue girlfriend until I find the right hutch!

Ps. I wouldnt say i'm on that much of a budget but £100 is about all I cant afford for a hutch that they wont spend much time in as he does have the run of the garden!

I have lavendar lodge and my bun seems happy enough with it - although she is playing in the garden most of the day.

Only thing is, I've had it 3 months and its had to be repaired twice. It keeps falling to bits.

Unless you are actually stuck for space, could you go for a 6x2x2? Our local RSPCA sell a hutch this size for £95. I have 4 of them and although they are not brilliant quality, they are tongue and groove, not plywood, have proper weld mesh fronts and have lasted. I have had my longest for coming up to two years with two distructo buns living in it and it's still standing!

Maybe your local branch sell them too.:D

Lavender Lodge looks good to me, their website says it is 5 1/2 ft x 2ft x 2ft. I think it's fair value for money, they seem pretty well made to me.

A 6ft hutch would be better, but if that is all you can fit in then it should be ok as long as he's not a large breed.

 i have a thistle hall hutch and its a double storey one and my two buns are lost in it..they are a liohnead sih bunny and a lop buns ort of dwarf lop size.....ie not so small! but not so big either!
the lavender lodge would fit my frenchie bertie as a bedroom toilet feed station..why not..he lives inside in a scooby doo tent the same size:lol:

trixie ones have a plastic tray for easier cleaning but theyre more expensive and a bit smaller...

pets at home had an offer on for first time online buyers..i got 14% of my order costs but it was a few weeks ago!

whatever hutch you get theres aways going to be some warping its unavoidable so just be aware and have extra nails or screws and maybe strengthening batons of wood to go under the floors/floor......

today my daughter gave me two packs of floor tiles..each one has four tiles 12" by 12" and im going to put them on the hutch floor as theres a tiny gap and food gets down there but its only on a 4cm strip on corenr side where it does it..but im going to use them to go over the edges..cut them if i have to and then ad some under the litter tray and food n water....i wanted to get losse lino but this will do for now...i have mine in the hosue so i dont need hay etc everywhere but in the tray but even then the tiles or lino is a good idea

ooh i saw these when i was looking.....i love the idea but alas not the price!

i went for this one from pets at home

but my frenchie would have loved this..hes jealous of the little uns having a hutch to sleep in...i think hes trying to figure out whether or not to persuade me to ditch his comfy tent!

believe you me they both are bigger than they look! ask my 2 and a half grandaughter who tried the lavender lodge out for size..think we may be asked to leave when we go in again:oops::lol:

I would recommend this company

http://stores.channeladvisor.com/The-Rabbit-Hutch-Shop/Hutches and Runs/Stacker Hutch Modules/

They do 6 foot hutches and runs that are modular so you can buy just the hutch now and later add the run and then another level to the hutch etc.

Chances are whatever you buy now you will look to improve on in the future and this system allows for that. I think postage is less than £10 too. If you phone up Tom is very helpful. (and please say that Maria recommended you!!)

Just to let you all know I got a new hutch to the correct standards and it was £40 cheaper the the pets@home one of a similar size! The chap I got it off makes them for a living and will make to your own specs. He's even got a portfolio. I'm so glad I spent some time looking!

I'm so excited, hopefully my bunny and his new girlfriend will be home by the weekend!
