Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ivermectin Jabs

Diddeen

Wise Old Thumper
Simba had an ivermectin jab today cos he's got mites yet again  The vet i saw seemed quite new and when i asked when he had to go back she said, we can do it in after 2 weeks. Im sure last time he had these he had several in a row quite close to each other but i cant remember how far between them. Anyone know what the usual timetable is for ivermectin jabs? He has really sore patches at the sides where his fur has come out  Hopefully this will sort him out though :?

I always thought it was 3 jabs at 7-10 days intervals

I rate the spot-on more than the injectable ivermectin personally, but OTOH I've never used it for mites.

Hi, I read somewhere that Ivermectin is injected three times at seven to ten day intervals. My buns had mites in December and my vet also did the jabs at 14 day intervals. The treatment was effective.

Last time he had the mites.. they prescribed the drops which did work ok but cos of his long fur he ends up quite wet where i put the drops and spends ages licking the wet fur.. the fur then ends up in a tangle so this time i opted for the injections to avoid that. I thought it was about 7-10 days. Thanks:) hopefully his bald patches will regrow soon :?
