Post VHD vaccination limping - thanks Jane and Martin!

Hello all

I noticed that Mia and Zoot were rather quite this morning which is most unlike them.. And then a short while later, I noticed that Zootie was limping :? I was in quite a tizz, picked him up to see if I could see thorns or a torn nail, or any swelling from a fracture..... Our poor subdued bunny! We gave Zootie a wee dose of metacam and some extra treats while we pondered what could have happened and whether we should be rushing off to the out of hours vet.

Next thing, we noticed that our lil' Mia was limping too!!! :? :?
After Cord convinced me that it was unlikely that Mia was having a sympathy sore paw because Zootie was limping, we started thinking how strange that *both* bunnies were limping with the same paw.....

Some frantic searching and I found the following thread that Jane started - http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?t=89886&highlight=vaccine+reaction

It seems that a limp post the VHD jab is not that uncommon....

Jane - did anything come of this? Are you still collecting names and addresses? We would be happy to provide details.

I am soooooo very thankful for this forum which contains a wealth of information - thank you all!! :thumb::D:wave: Martin - thanks for the detailed account in the thread on the duration of the limp...

We had our buns vaccinated yesterday morning at 9.30am. It seems that today will be the worst of the limp and that they should be back to normal by tomorrow...

What a fright though to see two limping bunnies! Binky didn't develop a limp. We are just thankful we have a third little bunny, Mia, to help us draw the conclusion that the limp was related to the vaccination, otherwise we would no doubt be shuffling off to out of hours vets and paying a fortune for x-rays as Zoot regularly jumps off things from dizzying heights.... :?

Again, thank you to all on the forum who contribute their knowledge. Do let me know if you require any additional details...

podlet, xxx

Awwww I am glad the Buns are OK :)

I never had any feedback from the manufacturers  I now use LAPINJECT VHD Vaccine and so far noBun has had any adverse side effects.
