  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dora's babies are 11 days old today and their eyes have not yet opened. Is this ok?
I heard 10 days was most common but someone said 14 days too...
They have started to womble about a little bit and the little brown one peed all over me as I stroked it today!:love::love:

10/11 days for rabbits. I expect they'll open in the next 24hrs. If they don't then you can gently bathe them with some cooled boiled water to encourage them open.

Their eyes normally open between 10 & 14 days, but if you`re worried you can gently bathe them with cooled boiled water, using cotton wool to help them along.

Can`t wait for piccies:wave:

Oh and Thanks Su!

Piccies soon, I promise as these little guys and their mummy are my foster buns and will all be looking for fab homes soon!

Love to the piggy boys! :D

I had the same problem....at 12 days my kits still hadn't opened their eyes, but during this week all of them got them open, I had to help all but one:lol: Cleaned their eyes out with a piece of wet paper (tried with fluffy hamster bedding too but I found paper was actually easier)
