Water Intake

How much should a rabbit drink? Does it vary depending on what they are eating?
Reason i ask, scruff our exisiting bunny has only ever drunk out of a hamster size water bottle, i once tried him with a normal rabbit size one and he wasn't having any of it he didn't drink for 3 days and when given his hamster size one back he drained it. As a result the only spre water bottle we had was a hamster sized one, so when we found sooty thisis what he was given. Now in the week he has had this it has never really had more that an inch out of it daily. However he has been out grazing on the grass daily and has also been having bits of veg daily including cucmber which obviously has a lot of water in it. I have noticed scruffs water intake has decreased aswell since hes been having cucmber but it is no where near as little as sootys. Should i be worried? Is it possibe the water bottle nozzle thing (bit that they drink from) is too small for him? I don't want him going thirsty.

Can you put a bowl down for them? It's much less hard work for them to lap from a bowl.

thanks, will try that. Have tried scruff with a bowl before and he has no interest. He is the fussiest bunny in the world. However having found sooty in the road i haven't really got a clue how he used to be kept, what he was fed on etc. Were lucky that he doesn't seem to have had an upset stomach by a change in food etc. Will try him witha bowl see if he drinks anymore.

I find the really heavy earthenware puppy bowls are good ans most average buns would find it difficult to pick up and toss around:lol: Leave it there for them for a couple of days to see if they start using it. All 4 of mine used bowls in preference to the bottles so I got rid of the bottles after a week or two.
