Do all preganant rabbits get dewlaps as i have heard thats where they pull the fur from to make a nest it will be 28 days on the 14 march for milly

Any help welcome :D

Hi sazzy......... i cant help answer your question, just wanted to see how Milly is doing?!!! Do you think she is pregnant? xxx

She is doing fine :D i don't know i don't know what the signs are. she's still really nervous and enjoys stamping her feet at me

When i went into get them all 5 does were frantically stamping at me too:roll:

It was like being stuck in the percussion section

Glad she is settling in well - at least if she IS pregnant her babies won't be terrorised now!

a few signs or pregnancy, aggresive behaviour, lying on her side alot, increased water intake however some does dont show any signs what so ever.

dewlaps develop through homones i dont think they develop through pregnancy as rabbits will mainly pull full from their tummy so the babies are able to find the teets (sp) no problem at feeding time.

xx

Hi thank you she does drink alot but she has done since she came and also hunnybunny2007 who took one of the boys said he drinks loads to so we think that is down to having to share with all the other bunnies that were there there is no sign of nest building yet (fingers crossed there won't be) when my first bunny patch had phatom pregnancys she use to run around with stuff in her mouth (ie my slippers )

Can you all keep your fingers crossed that she's not pregnant please

I don't think so...
Pregnant rabbits have a high "risk" of getting a dewlap but I don't think its absolutely certain they get it.
They pluck the fur of their belly, both to keep the kits warm and so the babies will get to the milk easier:D
Dewlaps tend to show up if the rabbit is overweight and since they often eat more during pregnancy, that could be why the dewlaps often show up;)
