we took bif back to vets today and rob the exotics vet is back.hooray!
Bif had an ivermectin jab bythe locum vet..he then gave me xeno 450 to treat her with..the pack as directed...but shes got steadily worse and the baldness is all round her nether regions and bum now and shes lost half her tail fur all down one side. the bald spots on her back are bigger and where new fur was growing thru..its gone
her dandruff was pretty bad today too....
rob said it only loked like classic mites but agreed she shouldnt have got so bad after treatment....if buns need more shots the infestation remains there but isnt worsened..not like this. he asked if it could be environmental infestation..i said oh gods..i have lino floor in my daughters rom and in the lounge..her cage gets cleaned regulary...she only has hay etc in her litter tray..she has bits of thermal blankets as bedding and two cuddly toys one of which shes just been given back..he asked if she was in close contcat with the other buns..i said she cant reach them but every evening she comes downstairs for exercise and shes penned off by us away from them and its double penned with a gap so her n willow cant get to each other thru the bars.
he asked if the other buns had them..we said no dandruff etc but itchy a bit moulting a bit..so getting treated just in case.
i was worried about salem..the dippy cat who loves the buns..cuddles them..sleeps with them etc under the coffee table. he said no its ok..
so he said she needs a skin scraping done and a fur pluck test to eradicate a fungal infection.he asked if she was insured..she is..so its obviously going to be pricey:shock:
my poor little girl..she was going tomorrow but hes on call overnite...so shes going friday...when hes on duty to do it..phew!!
