Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. just wanted some advice on how you groom your long haired breeds. i have been gromming minstrel about twice a week, but she has a couple of big mats on each side of her back and i've been spending an hour just doing a bit at a time, but it just seems like i'm not getting anywhere :(:? i feel i need to do her more regularly, but i'm struggling just to get her coat into a condition where she can just be brushed in a much shorter space of time either every day or every otherday. like i said at the moment i'm spending an hour just doing a tiny bit. i feel really awful, like i'm letting her down, but i know once i get her coat back to square one, i'll be able to manage better.

also noticed she's a bit thin on top of her back. is she having a mid-winter moult?

any tips and advice appreciated

A lot of people with longer haired breeds trim them regularly to help with grooming. You might find shortening the fur in problem areas (around the bum/backlegs makes things easier. If you're nervous about doing it yourself a groomer or vet should be able to get you started :)
