Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Tuesday and his wonky leg

Well - i've been sat with the buns for a while today, and noticed that tuesday was avoiding putting weight on his front left paw... sort of going to put it down, but kept pulling it up again. So I put him in the car and off to the vets - who are all out having lunch, so have come back again now, and have an appointment later.

He now seems to be hopping along on it fine... i'll take him to the vets anyhow for a checkup and see if the vet thinks it something worse, but what do you lot reckon it is? Do buns get sprains/strains? I know you are supposed to RICE (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) for humans - but how do you do that with rabbits?!

Harriet had it recently with her back left leg and the vet think she strained a muscle, so yes, it can happen, he hasn't got anything sharp in his paw has he?,

I did have a good ole look at his paw - and felt down his legs to see if one felt different from the other, but haven't spotted anything...
Vets at 2.30 (they've had a cancelation)

I am currently in this situation with Inky! The vet I saw this morning has given him Metacam and hopefully this will sort it out.

I have taken the shelf out of the playhouse and put carpet down in the run to stop him from straining it further.

Lots of vibes and hopefully our boys will be able to binky again soon.

Well, Tuesday has tennis elbow... how he's been playing tennis i don't know, but he's managed to inflame his elbow somehow!...

He's been dosed up on metacam and told to come back monday if he's still hobbling...

Poor tuesday - too much christmas excitment and running round it seems

Lots of nose rubs and vibes to Tuesday and Inky!

I'm glad that it's nothing too serious. May I ask what dose of Metacam Tuesday's got? Inky has got 10 drops a day (he weighs just under 3 kg), which sounds loads (although I've checked the calculations and it seems right), I'd just like to compare.

Tuesday was injected with 0.15mls (thats what is says on the receipt - although O/H thinks he saw 0.3 go in the syringe... - the vet weighed tuesday and he's 3.3kg (he's been eating too many pies))

Sorry - that's probably no help!

No, that is helpful, means I was reading the right dosing guide! Lots fo vibes for Tuesday, I hope he's back playing tennis again soon.

He's fine today... he was jumping up on to the chairs in the lounge which he very rarely does (more of an Egg trick that), so I think he is A-OK (or at least if his leg was giving him problems, he's definitely not bothered and is not prevented from doing crazy Tuesday tricks)

I guess he must have given up the tennis
