Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Now Fern has a runny eye U/D Injection tips for 'stiff' penicillin??

Thank you, that's a good tip :) I've set up a camera and been watching them as much as I can, so far not seen them as they're sat under the guinea pig cage table out of view! But just now Fern hopped to the middle of the room and ate some kale, then had a wander round and went in and out of both litter trays now they're under a box together in the centre of the room. I hope she's eating enough being left alone!

That's good that she ate some kale just now. I'm sorry she's been struggling so much. I hope the specialist on Wednesday can think of something to help her. Sending her lots more vibes.

Thank you, they've both been fairly active since 5pm. Fern is enjoying readigrass here while you can see Jake's white feetsies lied out in the box

Thank you, she's always insisting on bowls being upside down! I'm now addicted to watching bunny cam

I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner, I knew the handling/meds wouldn't be good for her but she acts calm when she's having them and sometimes will stay in our bedroom before hopping off but she doesn't like the initial pick up and sometimes I can feel she's tense when it's her injection time. But the way she was refusing food, pushing it away was very much like a start of stasis behaviour I thought. I'm sure the vet will be very happy on Wednesday with her

Glad to read she is eating better on her own. It can be a balance to make sure they have enough food in their gut to get/keep gi system moving without stress or discouraging eating on their own. With some bunnies sudden weight loss can be an issue too.
Fern is lucky to have you.
Sending vibes for a good follow up visit on Wednesday.

She's doing ok thanks, well the vet is happy with her :) She had a look in her mouth whilst pressing on her eye and it's no longer draining pus. There is no swelling anywhere at all. She has another 7 days of meds then we're to stop them and have her rechecked in another weeks time and fingers crossed there'll be no sign of any infection reoccurring. :D

She's the same weight so she must be eating enough being left alone. She wasn't happy at the vets and has been very angry last couple of meds times!! She's good for the injection though, better than oral meds, she hates Metacam even!!

Good news that her check up went well :D. I find giving meds by injection so much easier than giving oral meds. Not had a Bunny who does not like Metacam though !!

Sounds like she's doing really well!

Rodney also detests metacam, and the smell is so distinctive he always seems to know it's coming!

Sending more vibes for her continued improvement x

Wow, I'm surprised Fern & Rodney don't like metacam - what strange bunnies. So glad the check up went well for her

I’m so glad it went well. You are looking after her so well. I can imagine her being angry

Thank you :) These weird bunnies that don't like Metacam!! Fern is doing really well

I have had trouble with the last couple of injections though, the vets have drawn up her dose but then pulled the syringe back so it's up to for example 0.4-0.6 (her dose is 0.26ml). So then there's a lot of air in it and when it's down to her dose I'm finding this batch sticking a lot/very stiff to inject so I have to go in several times which means a change in needle and then she gets a lower dose as I'm faffing around with it. Any tips of how to 'loosen' up the depocillin??
