Rabbit has snuffles?
Our male rabbit’s companion died about 3 weeks ago. We do not know what she died of but she was a mini rex about 7 yrs old. So, we wanted to put our male up for adoption so he could go to a home with companions. We did a vet check and they just cleaned him up, did his nails, booster vaccinations and everything went good. So a woman came to pick him up. The next day she rang frantically and said she was at the vet. Our rabbit apparantly has a chest infection, his chest was rattling and he was wheezing when nervous. The woman drove here straight away to bring him back, worried about it being contagious.
Her vet gave her some antibiotics for him and metacam which she gave to us. But with the antibiotics they cannot go in his food, they must be given through a syringe in his mouth. Our rabbit is very skittish and nervous after his partner’s death. He is not comforable with handling or humans. It will be impossible to give him the required 2 doses a day without scaring him to death. What can we do?
