New Kit
Hi all!
We had our new rescue lop Gandalf neutered on Monday, and he had a little white discharge in his left eye so the vet looked at his teeth while he was under anaesthetic to check it wasn’t dental. Teeth were fine but he mentioned that he thinks he has entropian and that the discharge is being caused by the eyelashes curling in.
He’s recovering super well from the neutering and is already as happy and hungry as before, but the vet said he will need surgery on the eyelid to fix it. He said it didn’t appear urgent and said he would want an eye specialist to do it which would take a bit of time to get an appointment for.
Has anyone got any experience of entropian in rabbits? It doesn’t seem to have been particularly bothering him but obviously I want it to be repaired if it can be especially if he’s in pain (the vet said it was most likely ‘mildly uncomfort’ but i know it’s so hard to tell with buns.)
He’s now been to the vet 4 times in the 6 weeks we’ve had him (he was not a healthy boy when we got him poor thing) so would love some advice on how to proceed - I don’t know if it’s best to give him some time to settle and heal from the surgery and then get the eye looked at in a few months or just get it all over and done with ASAP?
All advice and help welcome!
