Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
If not any experience, any info?
I'm wondering if the Textbook of Rabbit Medicine has anything on them - Google suggested it might but obviously I can't read further without purchase. Other than that, rabbit specific research online is giving me nothing.
Not an occlusal cyst, but I have had a few Rabbits who have had oral papillomas.

I have the Textbook of Rabbit Medicine infront of me now but I cant, as yet, find anything specifically about 'Occlusal Cysts'. Can you post the link to the relevant part of the book that is available online ?
Aw thanks for your reply Jane, tis very kind of you. I've just re-googled & didn't get the same as my last attempt (in November). If you could have a quick scan at page 80 sometime that would be fab (there's probably nothing there). Please don't rush though, I know you've an awful lot on your shoulders at the mo x
On page 80 the only reference to cysts is to Meibomian Cysts (effecting the eye)

TBH I don't really get why an ooclusal cyst was put forward - the mass actually is behind the eye. You've given me some positive direction though- going to look into Meibomian cysts now.
Thanks ever so mch

Sorry JB, only just got back (yet again!) from the vet ... I have the book if I can help at all. Also a few other books ...
Is it poor little Boo? Has anything been diagnosed? So sorry xx
Thanks MM. Specialist saw a mass on Boo's xray back when her issues with her tushy pegs came to light. None of them thinks its an abscess (thank goodness), an occlussal cyst was put forward as a possible explanation. Randomly I try & fail to look in to it. My vet has not seen one before & not got far with research either!
I hope bun appreciated your visit - noserubs from me xx
I meant to ask you - is it pushing the eye forward?
J&B when I finish work tomorrow I shall have a look through my nursing books for you.
Could your vet forward a picture of the x-ray to a specialist?

When you said previously that you "like to vet a vet" I didn't realise it extended to offering such challenges to test them out! It's good that she gets specialists involved too, my initial vets just shrugged their shoulders. I'm offering her some challenges with Eliza but I think your dilemma is rather more complex. I hope you get some answers and that they are not as scary as they may seem at the moment.
I actually feel a meanie presenting her with the enigma that is Boo's head  What's going on for Eliza?
