thank you everybody, I'm at the vets tonight so will pick it apart with him but I don't possibly know what else we can do

thanks for the link Amanda, I did think that this was the general consensus ,that they are only spread in the early stages, which is why I thought we were 'safe' now; but how can it not be EC that he has died of??

My head is just battered with all of this.

The only way you could possibly ever know for sure is to have a PM carried out (that won't always give answers either, but will be more helpful than a discussion with the vet to 'guess' at what it could have been).

I know nothing about EC so don't know if it would cause such a sudden death but it's best to rule out anything else infectious if possible.
