Urgent *awful gumtree ad what can be done

caismeister

Alpha Buck
Someone's just sent me an advert and it's absolutely disgusting. An advert selling 4 rabbits, housed together, not neutered and in the most awful conditions. The hutch is tiny and I really am upset seeing this awful advert. These poor animals are suffering and the owners couldn't care less :(

Well done for bringing it to our attention though. I can't believe how anyone could think it was ok to keep those 4 large bunnies in such a tiny hutch . I'm not sure what you can do about it though. Unless you're in a position to take on more bunnies or know someone who is? The rescues are already bulging at the seams :(. No doubt the females are all pregnant too .

I no I only saw it because a friend sent it to me :( I avoid those types of sites for this very reason. I've got my 5 already so full here but would love to help. I'll have a think and an ask round

although you can't post the thread here the best thing to do would be to send the link to some rescues relatively close - kayj who used to be on here specialises in large rabbits if as you suggest, they are large/giant.

The mods/free ads team cant really do much more than send a helpful message to the person about where buns advertised of freeads might end up - tbh in this case the present owners may well not care where they end up.

Unfortunately we are full here - 36 is very full for us.

It's not so much the size of the buns (who looked like fully grown adults) but the size of the hutch all four were shoe-horned into . They looked a good 2.5kg each against the size of the hutch, but they could have been smaller. The hutch wasn't even big enough for a couple of guinea pigs :(.

Could you put the link on Anybunniez Rabbit Rescue & Rehome Network page on Facebook? Somebody might be in a position to help

Yeah the buns themselves are not big just that there's 4 of them in a ridiculously tiny space. Makes you feel so sick for the plight of some buns out there especially after cleaning my own out this morning and seeing them living a lovely life in their Wendy houses and huge runs. I'll link to that Facebook page :)
