It's only a matter of time.
One rescue I worked with (many years ago) sanctioned a rabbit to be rehomed to a free ranging household. I refused to do the home visit or have anything to do with that rehoming as it just broke my heart ...

They bring him in at night. But that also means that he is going through huge temp changes daily too.
He was the friendliest little thing I have seen in ages. We have three single girls here so could have had his choice of companion.
