  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

RHD- Apparent Vaccine Failures *PLEASE READ*

Has the subject gone quieter in the last week or so? I have not heard of any more cases suspicious of vaccine failure but it could just be FB being selective about what appears on my timeline.

I have five Nobivac due and I am trying to decide whether to go for the plus version or stick with two vaccines this year:?

Do you know which vaccine? Is the source reliable? A lot of the reports on FB are sketchy and confusing.

Don't know the sources, but my daughter told me about it as she monitors local internet sources. There does seem to be a marked bias towards female rabbit deaths in a mixed population - but I really can't answer how accurate the data is or the accination status / brand used. It's still worrying when this type of report keeps popping up all of a sudden.

Thanks. It is probably the same sources I am seeing rather than "additional evidence", or not direct from a vet etc.

I think there may be confusion with some vets still offering two vaccs for full cover but the new rule of thumb being a single vaccinations. My vet, for example, was still doing 2 vaccs in November but they are well aware of the change, and they were very clear I go back for the second. If people are swapping and changing vets depending on who's open, it might be confusing? I say this because my vets must have had about 5 phonecalls while I was at the practice (we're lucky to be able to wait indoors), about an hour (would have been quicker if they hadn't had so many phonecalls ). They were getting loads of calls from unregistered patients because their own surgeries aren't open :S First thing they asked when I rang up was if I was registered.
