  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is this normal? Can this be normal? Last few weeks I've noticed occasionally Apricot makes and weird squeak sometimes, kinda like a high pitched yawn.. When she stretches and relaxes.. She is very relaxed when it happens, normally between naps etc.

My OH just said she did it again :( anyone got any ideas?

Treacle loves a good old stretch and yawn, but I've never heard her make any sound. Have no idea really, but if she's relaxed when she does it, I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe others will have more of an idea.

Yea she's definitely relaxed and chilled out it's just a bit odd I guess, Clementine makes a funny noise when she's grooming but everyone else is silent... Just hope it's not something serious that I'm missing the obvious signs for, you know?

I have heard very gentle noise made by Henry - if that helps? I've always been extremely fascinated by the problem of rabbits not having vocalisation. They have vocal chords and therefore should, by theory, have an ability to make sound and yet they have not evolved to do so. You're clearly in tune with your rabbits and I'm sure if there was something even remotely out of normal, you would be on it like a flash. x
